About United Street Ministries Church History

Our Founder/Director Rev. Alice Bendzula struggled with drugs and alcoholism for years. Her life was on a downhill slide. She lost her brother age 33 and mother age 55 on Christmas Eve to suicide in her house basement. Father passed away from lung and brain cancer. She lost everything in a house fire. She suffered through bankruptcy, more than once. She suffered injuries, on many occasions, from numerous car collisions, resulting in years, of physical therapy and hospital stays.

She suffered from physical and emotional abuse for years, all from unhealthy relationships. She had two failed marriages. She is blessed with a daughter and a grandson out of the first marriage. She also suffered, injuries to the hands, arms, nose, collarbone, back, neck, ribs, legs and foot. On another occasion, she was labeled as a victim of crime and awarded money, only to lose it all from financial burdens due to medical expenses. She signed herself in a mental health unit a couple of times to help her cope.

She suffered on a few occasions, near death experiences. She was attacked by strangers on the streets and suffered a severe beating with a wooden clog to the left temple, causing the left side of her face to collapse; This beating had racial, hatred intentions, which resulted in five reconstructive surgeries to repair the damage. She had years of epilepsy, and was healed. She was healed of high blood pressure and borderline diabetes. She also had colon surgery to reconstruct her colon, due to prolapse.    Pastor Alice
